The Costacos and Bash Brothers

I remember their style from my youth, but I never knew anything about their maker. Turns out it was the Costacos brothers that were able to create real-life caricatures out of larger than life athletes. From posters to t-shirts, anyone who loved sports had a poster of Bo Jackson in front of his locker or a shirt with the big-headed “Bad Boys” Detroit Pistons. The Costacos ushered in an area of unprecedented athletic merchandising, doing so without licensing in the beginning, instead relying on bold design and witty wordplay.
